How much will it cost?
Royal Open University qualifications are made up of a series of modules. Every module has an individual fee – added together, they give you the total cost.
You’ll fund your modules as you study them, which means you won’t have to pay for your whole qualification up front.
FEES
After receiving a provisional admission, applicants are required to pay a one-time Admission fee to have their full admission processed. Local applicants are required to pay 70,000 Ug. Shs and International Applicants pay US$20. Once it has been paid, then the student will get a student’s Registration Number, receive access to information regarding his or her course, such; as course outline, duration of study, tutor, timetable, etc.
Enrolment/Registration Fee
All students who are successfully admitted will be given their study plan. A student will undertake a module every month. Before commencing any module, a student must pay an Enrollment/Registration fee and module fee. These fees vary from module to module.
You do not need to complete this step if you already have a Royal Open University Student account (this would be the case for students enrolling onto a programme for the very first time at Royal Open University).

In order to assist students who are unable to pay the semester fees all at once, ROU offers a payment plan for approved students. Students will be required to submit relevant documents to attest to their financial situation in order to be approved for the payment plan. They will be able to pay 50% of the Module fee at the beginning of the module, and another 50% before exams. To request this option, please consult your Tutor during the enrollment period.
You will be asked to check your registration is correct. If it isn’t, or if there are any other error messages displayed, please follow the instructions on the message.
When you have agreed to the Terms and Conditions on the introduction page, you will see your online enrolment menu.
The online registration menu lists all of the sections you must visit to complete the process. As you complete each one, the status on the right hand side will change from incomplete to complete. You do not have to complete these sections in any particular order, but it is set out in what we hope is a logical sequence. As you go through the sections, you will need to check and confirm that what is shown is correct.
If there are any blanks in compulsory fields (marked with an !), you will need to enter the required information before you can complete the section. At the bottom of each section, enter a tick in the confirmation box then click save.
If you need to go back you can click cancel to cancel any changes and return to the list of sections, or click undo and start the section again.
When you have completed all of the sections required (the list of sections should all say ‘complete’) and are happy that all your enrolment information is correct, you should click the ‘complete enrolment’ button.
Please note that when you have done this, you can no longer change your enrolment information.
If you think you have made an error with your contact details or they have changed, you can amend this by following the ‘Can I update my details later if they change?’ frequently asked question below. For any other errors please contact your faculty.
Important note: Once you have completed this process, please do not select Complete my Online Enrolment from the menu again unless you have another programme to enrol on for this academic year.
Confirmation
Once you have completed online enrolment, an email will automatically be sent to your account which will:
- confirm that you have completed online enrolment
- Create an account for you on the Sky Campus
- confirm the method of payment you selected for paying your tuition fees
- You can use your registration/student’s number to access your account
Depending on the requirements of your subject, you may be asked to choose optional modules at the start of your course.
